Overview:
SeaWeb is currently accepting applications for a paid internship with Seafood Choices Alliance in the Silver Spring, MD office. Seafood Choices Alliance is an international association for the issue of ocean-friendly seafood, working to make the seafood marketplace environmentally and economically sustainable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Interns assist in all aspects of the Seafood Choices Alliance program, including: monitoring press coverage; researching species and seafood industry issues; drafting reports, news releases, fact sheets and other materials; coordinating distribution of information packets for media, the general public and other conservation groups; performing website maintenance; and providing other office support.
Qualifications:
Seafood Choices Alliance welcomes college or university seniors, recent graduates and graduate students from a variety of study disciplines to apply for the internship. Applicants should have strong communications skills and an interest in marine/ocean conservation issues (marine experience not necessary). The candidate should have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple tasks. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and a sense of humor are musts.
We encourage applications from science, business, environmental economics and communications majors, including journalism, public relations, political communications, or marketing. Majors in the fields of environmental science, marine science or biology who are interested in how communications plays a role in those disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Salary:
Stipend is dependent upon experience.
