SeaWeb's Aquaculture Webinars provide forum for informed dialogue

December 2012 - Over the last 6 months SeaWeb's Seafood Choices program, in conjunction with NOAA, have developed a webinar series on current topics in aquaculture. The presentations and discussions conveyed through these webinars provide information on aquaculture to help continue a constructive and informed dialogue on its role in meeting seafood demands in the US and global seafood marketplace.

Nine Seafood Champions Named at Summit

06 September, 2012 - Nine advocates for sustainable seafood walked away with Seafood Champion Awards at the annual International Seafood Summit in Hong Kong Thursday. The awards were announced in the opening ceremony for the event, held at the Kowloon Shangri-La in Hong Kong.

This year's winners represent leaders working on a variety of pressing seafood and ocean-related issues including illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, anti-shark finning, community-managed fisheries, traceability and fisheries improvement projects.

Blue Frontiers: Managing the Environmental Costs of Aquaculture

Aquaculture presents unique environmental costs as well as opportunities for sustainable growth, an issue that was discussed during a webinar led by Stephen Hall, director general at the World Fish Center. SeaWeb hosted the June webinar, which was designed to encourage dialogue on fisheries in Asia leading up to SeaWeb’s 10th International Seafood Summit in Hong Kong in September.
